# StoryCapture > StoryCapture is a script-first product demo video maker for SaaS teams. You write a demo as a `.story` script; a real browser runs it, native capture records it, and the script also carries the polish (zooms, highlights, a 3D camera, captions, narration). When the product changes you edit a line and re-record only that scene. Videos are shared from a web workspace with one link, chapters and watch analytics. StoryCapture is a desktop app for macOS and Windows with a web companion at https://storycaptures.com. It is free to start, with a 14-day trial of full exports; StoryCapture is in private beta, and beta users get a free Desktop License. ## How it works - Write: each step of the demo is one line of the `.story` script (a page, a click, a field to fill, a field to hide). The script lives in your repository and is reviewed like code. An AI client can write it through StoryCapture's MCP server. - Rehearse: a simulator runs every line before recording and shows where the pointer will land. - Record: a real browser runs the lines and native capture records the pixels; nobody touches the mouse. Redacted fields are masked before the first frame. - Polish: zooms, click effects, highlights, a 3D camera, intro and outro cards, subtitles in several languages and AI narration (`say` lines) come from the script, so every re-record keeps them. - Share: export MP4, WebM or GIF in 16:9, square or vertical, or upload to the workspace for a watch page with chapters, an embed, a call to action under the player and drop-off by scene. ## Questions - What is StoryCapture? A script-first product demo video maker: it turns a written walkthrough into browser automation, native capture, post-production, export and web sharing. - How is it different from interactive demo software? Interactive demo tools make click-through tours for site visitors. StoryCapture produces polished linear videos from repeatable scripted browser flows, for launches, onboarding, support and release notes. - Does it replace a screen recorder? It overlaps with one, and adds browser automation, author-time preview, native capture, editing from the script, export presets and share analytics. - What does it cost? Free to start, with a 14-day trial of full exports. A Desktop License is a one-time payment ($59 at the launch price) for 4K exports without the mark; Cloud Pro and Team are optional subscriptions for hosting, sharing and analytics. See https://storycaptures.com/pricing. - Who is it for? Product marketers, developer advocates, founders, customer education and release teams who need the same demo recreated as the product changes. ## Pages - [Getting started](https://storycaptures.com/docs/getting-started): install the app, write a first story, rehearse, record, export and share. - [.story script reference](https://storycaptures.com/docs/story): every line a story can use (scenes, steps, polish, narration, redaction, cards, camera), each with an example. - [Use with AI clients (MCP)](https://storycaptures.com/docs/mcp): connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or VS Code to the desktop app, and the tools they get. - [Download](https://storycaptures.com/download): the desktop app for macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon, and for Windows, with system requirements. - [Pricing](https://storycaptures.com/pricing): Free (exports up to 1080p with a mark, 1 GB of hosting), a one-time Desktop License ($59 launch price, $79 after, for 4K exports without the mark on up to 3 computers), Cloud Pro ($69 a year or $8 a month) and Team ($12 per editor a month, billed yearly) for hosting and analytics. - [Security](https://storycaptures.com/security): what stays on your computer, what is stored in your workspace, the services StoryCapture uses, and how to report an issue. - [Gallery](https://storycaptures.com/gallery): product demo videos made with StoryCapture, each from a short script. - [Changelog](https://storycaptures.com/changelog): what changed, release by release. - [Privacy](https://storycaptures.com/privacy), [Terms](https://storycaptures.com/terms), [About](https://storycaptures.com/about) ## Links - Landing page: https://storycaptures.com - The problem it solves: https://storycaptures.com/#problem - Live proof (this landing page's own re-recorded demo): https://storycaptures.com/#live-proof - Release day (change one line, re-record one scene): https://storycaptures.com/#release-day - Features: https://storycaptures.com/#features - FAQ: https://storycaptures.com/#faq - Hero film (44 s, narrated): https://storycaptures.com/assets/landing/v2/hero-film.mp4 - Request access: https://storycaptures.com/#access - Contact: scs@storycaptures.com
